“To fight pests farmers can choose in two methods: chemical and biological. Good effectiveness is important in both cases. To decide on the method of spraying, you need to know the pros and cons of each one.

Most often farmers choose the chemical method in the fight against pests in maize, because they think it is more effective. Lack of knowledge about the cost and efficiency of biological treatment is the main barrier that discourage farmers to use this method. Meanwhile its effectiveness could be positively surprising for many entrepreneurs. Biological pest control is based on the use of Trichogramma spp. – a hymenoptera parasite. Formal arguments for this spraying method.”

“In the biological method, the mixture is applied from the gyrocopter, so in a safe and efficient way, without causing losses in the maize. The costs of biological protection of maize against pests are comparable to the costs of chemical protection.

In 2017, the cost of using Tricholet (loose form) using a gyroplane was 40€ / ha. The biological method reduces the pest population from 60 to 92 percent. This method of protection does not pose any threats to the environment and to beneficial organisms and additionally reduces the occurrence of additional types of pests.”
