On March 6, 2025, an accident involving a Tercel gyrocopter, manufactured by Aviation Artur Trendak, occurred at Baranów airfield near Warsaw.
The preliminary findings indicate the following sequence of events:
During a routine circuit flight, the crew (student pilot and instructor) experienced an unidentified acoustic anomaly, followed by a loss of engine power. The instructor immediately decided to perform an emergency landing. Upon touchdown, the gyrocopter caught fire and was completely destroyed. The student pilot managed to exit the aircraft unharmed, while the instructor suffered facial burns.
The commission recommends that all operators of Tercel gyrocopters manufactured by Aviation Artur Trendak immediately verify the compliance with fuel system service bulletins, available on the manufacturer’s website: https://trendak.eu/en/download/
Regarding this incident, we confirm that the gyrocopter belonged to the AAT Training Center. We are actively cooperating with the State Commission for the Investigation of Aviation Accidents (PKBWL) to thoroughly determine the causes of the accident. The safety of our pilots remains our top priority, and we encourage all operators of our aircraft to perform regular technical inspections and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
